BabySteps Day 8

Hello everyone! It’s Saturday and I am continuing on in FlyLady’s 31 Days of BabySteps. If you haven’t read what I’ve done so far, you can read about it here.

Yesterday was Day 8 of the BabySteps toward a Clutter-Free Home! I’m moving right along. Here’s what was on the agenda for yesterday:

Morning Routine:

  • Get up and get dressed to shoes, including hair and makeup
  • Look at my posted reminders in the kitchen and bathroom
  • Read my FlyLady Morning Message
  • Recognize the negative voices in my head and change them to positive
  • Work on a HotSpot for 2 minutes

Before Bed (or as I like to call it, After Dinner) Routine:

  • Keep shining my sink
  • Lay out my clothes for tomorrow
  • Put out a HotSpot for another 2 minutes

These two routines are what I’ve already been working on. In addition to these routines, my task for Day 8 of the BabySteps was to start the beginnings of my Control Journal.

Now, I have to be honest here… I actually already started my Control Journal prior to starting the BabySteps. 😉

You see, the FlyLady has an entire section of her website devoted to building your own Control Journal, and I sort of went crazy and built the entire thing before I even started the BabySteps. That was kind of a no-no in FlyLady’s world, but alas, the task is done and I’m kind of happy about it.

I LOVE (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE) organizing — in fact, I probably have a scandalous love affair with the type of organization that involves schedules and planning. (Don’t believe me? Just ask my husband.)

Organizing my physical stuff, not so much — as was/is evidenced by the state of our home and thus, why I’m even doing the BabySteps — but give me a paper, a computer, and a printer and I’ll spend hours planning and figuring out how things are going to go.

Anyway, I have already put together my Control Journal. The cover is nothing fancy because we’ve got a black and white printer, but here’s what it looks like:

For more info on what is included in my Control Journal, please read my post on it here.

The actual Step 8 as it was meant to be (when I haven’t completed it ahead of time) is to get a binder, fill it with blank paper, and then write down the Morning and Before Bed Routines that we’ve been developing over the past week (the ones listed above).

So that’s all for today! Check back tomorrow for my progress through Step 9.
